Women's Asia Cup: India Outplay UAE By 104 runs, Jemimah Rodrigues Shines With Bat

The Indian women’s cricket team is now standing at the top of the points table with a third consecutive win.

New Delhi: The star Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues scored an unbeaten 76 runs helping India women’s cricket team beat the UAE by 104 runs at Sylhet Outer Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. The Indian women’s cricket team is now standing at the top of the points table with a third consecutive win. While chasing down the total of 179 runs, the UAE batters constantly struggled and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. 

The ace Indian spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad conceded a boundary on the very first ball of her over by Esha Rohit Oza but she took revenge by scalping the wicket of Oza on the very next delivery. She again picked a wicket in the same over and created havoc for the UAE batters. 

Kavisha Egodage and Khushi Sharma tried to score some runs but wickets kept falling. However, they had a 58 runs partnership in the middle and they batted well for their side  Earlier, after batting first, India put up a mammoth total of 178 runs with the help of half-centuries from Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma. 

Rodrigues starred with the bat with a brilliant 75 not out and Deepti also supported her well and played an excellent knock of 64 runs. Smriti Mandhana stepped onto the field as the stand-in skipper as she replaced Harmanpreet Kaur as the captain.

Brief Score: India 178/5 in 20 overs (Jemimah Rodrigues 75, Deepti Sharma 64; Mahika Gaur 1/27) vs UAE 74/4 (Kavisha Egodage 30, Khushi Sharma 29; Rajeshwari Gayakwad 2/20).
