WATCH: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Tries His Hand At Hockey; Manages To Score One

Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla perhaps has the toughest job in India’s democracy. He has to maintain the decorum of the India’s parliament. But on Monday, the speaker was seen trying his hand at hockey during a hockey-event in Kota, Rajasthan.

Mr. Birla was present at the closing ceremony of the Sangram Singh state level hockey tournament. It was the 25th edition of this tournament. Om Birla is also the MP from the Kota-Bundi constituency. So, the politician was in his own constituency promoting and encouraging participation in sports. In the video, we can see Mr. Birla standing at the penalty spot and aiming at goal. After missing two shots at the goal, Mr. Birla managed to rocket the ball past the keeper for a goal. Everyone who was standing started applauding the Lok Sabha speaker. Watch the video below:

It is very encouraging to see big names promoting sports like hockey which are not as popular as some other sports like cricket.
