Switzerland Tourism Felicitates 'Friendship Ambassador' Neeraj Chopra

Neeraj Chopra, a 25-year-old sporting sensation, earned a unique distinction by becoming just the third javelin thrower in history to clinch both the Olympic and World Championships titles.

Switzerland Tourism extended a warm felicitation to Neeraj Chopra, the celebrated Olympic and World champion javelin thrower, acknowledging his remarkable achievements in the field of sports.

Neeraj Chopra, a 25-year-old sporting sensation, earned a unique distinction by becoming just the third javelin thrower in history to clinch both the Olympic and World Championships titles. His extraordinary feat unfolded when he secured the World Championship title in Budapest, with a monumental throw covering a distance of 88.17 meters last month.

Pascal Prinz, the Head of Global Partnerships at Switzerland Tourism, expressed profound admiration for Neeraj Chopra's accomplishments. He conveyed Switzerland Tourism's great honor and delight in celebrating this remarkable sports legend as their 'Friendship Ambassador' in India. In an official media statement, Prinz stated, "We are honored and delighted to celebrate India's sports legend Neeraj Chopra. Neeraj is paving the way and inspiring an entire generation. For us at Switzerland Tourism, we are extremely happy with our association with Neeraj as our 'Friendship Ambassador' in India. We heartily congratulate him on his world championship and wish him the best for his future endeavors."

Neeraj Chopra has been relishing Switzerland's breathtaking landscapes and engaging in various adventure sports, aligning perfectly with the country's reputation for offering adventurous, sporty, and scenic outdoor activities. His Swiss experiences include thrilling adventures such as skydiving, canyon jumping, and jetboating in Interlaken, as well as paragliding and helicopter tours over the mesmerizing Zermatt landscape.

After his World Championships gold, Chopra had a rare off day at the Zurich Diamond League where he had to come back from behind to finish second. His best throw of 85.71 came in his last attempt but he was 15 cm short of the top position.
