Starc scripts history, bags two hat-tricks in one game
Johannesburg [South Africa], November 7 (ANI): England pacer Mitchell Starc created history on Tuesday as he became the first cricketer to bag two hat-tricks in the same first-class game in Australia.
The 27-year-old claimed the last three wickets of each innings to finish with a total of seven wickets as his New South Wales side defeated Western Australia by huge 171 runs in the Sheffield Shield game.
With the two hat-tricks, Starc became only the eighth player in the history of the first-class cricket and the first in 39 years to achieve the feat.
Starc dismissed Jono Wells, Jason Behrendorff, David Moody and Simon Mackin in Western Australia's first innings to complete his first career hat-trick before he once again removed Wells, Behrendorff and Moody in the second innings.
The Australian pacer eventually finished with the match figures of seven for 97 in NSW's victory.
Starc's ominous form came ahead of first of five Ashes Test matches in Brisbane, starting on November 23. (ANI)
