Srikanth, Prannoy progress into Indonesia Open quarters

Jakarta [Indonesia], June 15 (ANI): Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth showcased a spirited performance as he bounced back from a game down against fourth-seed Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark to book his place in the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Super Series Premier here on Thursday.

After comfortably winning the first game, the Indian shuttler went down in the second before posting a 21-15, 20-22, 21-16 win over his Denmark opponent in a grueling clash that lasted just few minutes less than an hour.

Srikanth will now lock horns with Tzu Wei Wang of Taiwan for a place in the semi-finals.

In another men's singles clash, HS Prannoy also stormed into the last-eight following a 21-10, 21-18 win over LEE Chong Wei of Malaysia in a one-sided encounter that lasted 40 minutes.

Later in the day, Rio-Olympic silver-medallist PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal will also look to seal last-eight spots in the women's singles event. (ANI)
