Despite no cheers coming in from the stands, the RBC bossed it in their first match of the IPL tournament with no loss and over 80 runs in the kitty past 10 overs.
Undoubtedly a tremendous start put up by openers Padikkal and Finch who continued their partnership out there even after 50 on the board. Padikkal stood out as a fire opener as he first forced Bhuvneshwar and Sandeep to shorten their lengths to offer him a swing, and then he took on T Natarajan to earn good on the cards.
SRH on the other hand looked pretty terrible on the field early on in the match until Finch fell. The fielders appeared to be continuously letting go the chances from their hands but the energies boosted up right after a straight from Abhishek Sharma making Finch to sweep but ultimately forcing him to leave the pitch.
Another turning point was Kohli's wicket down at just 14 runs by none other than the Natarajan. The captain tried to swing into the stands but it caught at deep wicket forcing Kohli to return to pavilion.
Speaking of the boundaries, there were not much coming in on Monday evening for the fans to go gaga on but the runs didn't stop either. Half-centuries from Padikkal and de Villiers dragged the team till 163 but run out of the latter turned out as dent for the team. Certainly a delight for SRH but the fielder now out for batting wont have a straight-forward chase against RCB.
If Virat-led RCB register a win over SRH in their tournament opener, it will be Kohli's 50 win as skipper. Kohli will become only the third skipper in IPL history to have achieved the 50-win milestone. Lets see if some more exciting cricket coming up next.
The third match in the 13th season the Indian Premier League was held between 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Dubai International Stadium in UAE on September 21.
