Ranji Final: Prithvi Shaw Involved In Heated Argument With Umpire After LBW Appeal Denied. Watch Video

Mumbai skipper Prithvi Shaw, who seemed pretty much convinced that the batter should have been adjudged out, went straight to the umpire for a discussion which later turned into an argument.

New Delhi: Mumbai's dream of winning the Ranji trophy title for the 42nd time was shattered after Madhya Pradesh defeated the defending champions in the summit clash on Sunday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. This year, talented youngster Prithvi Shaw was leading Mumbai in Ranji Trophy.

Meanwhile, things got pretty heated up when captain Prithvi Shaw got involved in a heated argument with the umpire several times during the match. During the 125th over of the innings, Madhya Pradesh were at one point at 373/3 and were only one run behind Mumbai's score.

A delivery from pace bowler Mohit Awasthi hit the pads of captain Aditya Srivastava. After loud appeals by the bowler and fielders, the umpire decided to rule in favor of the batsman, calling it not-out. Later, even the replays on the big screen showed the ball was going out of line of off stump.

However, Mumbai skipper Prithvi Shaw, who seemed pretty much convinced that the batter should have been adjudged out, was not happy with this decision and went straight to the umpire for a discussion which later turned into an argument. Since there was no DRS available, Mumbai had no option but to accept the on-field umpire's decision. The video of Shaw's heated exchange with the umpire went viral on social media.

Talking about the match, Madhya Pradesh defeated 41-time champion team Mumbai by 6 wickets in the final. On the last day, Mumbai had set a target of 108 runs for MP to chase for the win, which the team achieved in 29.5 overs.
