Bumrah makes his debut, Rahane dropped for first Test
Cape Town: India’s playing XI swept everyone off their feet as South Africa won the toss and opted to bat in the first Test here.
In what comes as a major surprise first, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has been kept out of the playing XI, paving way for Rohit Sharma.
Pacer Jasprit Bumrah was handed over his Test debut as India decided to pick four fast bowlers including Hardik Pandya and the lone spinner in Ravichandran Ashwin.
The other two quicks picked are Mohammad Shami and Bhuneshwar Kumar, leaving out Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav.
South Africa picked four seamers including Dale Steyn and a spinner in Keshav Maharaj.
