Liverpool Football Club's 30-year old long wait to win English soccer' most coveted title ended on Thursday as they were confirmed as Premier League Champions (EPL) for the 2019-20 season after second-placed Manchester City's 2-1 loss to Chelsea. Man City's loss at Stamford Bridge meant Liverpool had sealed the EPL title with an unassailable 23-point lead over the Manchester based club with seven games still left to be played in the season. One of the powerhouses of English domestic football, Liverpool were last crowned champion England's top division football league when they won the erstwhile First Division title in 1989-90. Despite restrictions around mass social gathering, overjoyed and jubilant Liverpool FC fans thronged Anfield wearing face masks amid the coronavirus pandemic to celebrate their club's path breaking victory as they sang the club song and honked from their cars to announce the club's famous title-winning feat.
