Mumbai Indias are currently 9th in the table and are set to take on second-placed Kolkata Knight Riders, and the common number between the sides is 2, just the difference being that KKR are 2nd in the table, and MI being 2nd last. The difference perfectly defines the state of the sides in the ongoing IPL 2024, as the Knights are relishing on the banks of all-round performance delivered by each and every player in every match played so far.
The same cannot be said for MI as they have failed to play as a unit this season, and only moments of brilliance from few set of individuals have delivered the wins for them. With a win, MI will move to alteast 8th, as they have a better Net Run Rate (NRR) than Gujarat Titans, and can even go 7th, if their NRR is better than Punjab Kings at the end of the match.
However, a KKR win will clear them off nearest challengers for the second spot, and KKR can potentially threaten Rajasthan Royals for the top spot, after the latter's one-run defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad yesterday.
