Delhi vs Mumbai, IPL 2020: Shikhar Dhawan's Solid Fifty Helps Delhi Capitals Post 162/4 Against Mumbai Indians

DC vs MI, IPL 2020 match today in UAE: Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer stitched together a solid 85-run partnership following a fifty from the Delhi Capitals opener off just 39 balls -- his first of IPL 13.

A solid fifty from senior opener Shikhar Dhawan propelled Delhi Capitals to a respectable 162/4 against heavyweights Mumbai Indians on Sunday at Abu Dhabi. Dhawan and Iyer starting to rebuild the innings after facing early loss in form of Rahane and Shaw. The duo stitched together a solid 85-run partnership before the latter departed in the 15th over.

Rohit Sharma-skipper unchanged MI XI lost the toss and DC opted to bat first. Ajinkya Rahane was included in the playing XI f or the first time in the tournament and Alex Carey made his IPL 2020 debut. Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw walked out to open the innings for their team with Boult ready to bowl the opening over the match.

Boult started good with a hint of swing on the first ball and in the second ball he succeeded to take an edge of Prithvi and end his short stay at the crease (4 runs). Prithvi Shaw had to depart early with the Kiwi speedster striking early on.

Ajinkya Rahane was the new man in, who came at the crease to bat at number three position. Pattinson shared the new ball with Boult and bowled the second over and was smashed for two boundaries in his opening over.

Skipper Rohit's move to bring in Krunal into the attack worked as he succeeded in trapping well-set Ajinkya Rahane right in front of the stumps for an LBW out ans with this Delhi Capitals lost their second wicket.

After first five overs, DC managed to score 32 runs after loss of two wickets with Shreyas joining Shikhar in the middle with Dhawan breaking the shackles by scoring boundaries with well-placed and well-timed strokes. At the end of powerplay, Delhi reached 46/2.

Dhawan and Iyer starting to rebuild the innings after facing early loss in form of Rahane and Shaw. Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer stitched together a solid 85-run partnership before the latter departed in the 15th over. Marcus Stoinis, DC's finisher for the season walked in to join Dhawan in the middle.

Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan scored fifty from 39 balls -- his first of the season. Just when the stage looked set for Stoinis to fire with the bat, a complete mix-up between him and Dhawan had the latter run-out for a 8-ball 13.

In the last few overs, Dhawan collected a few boundaries to help his team reach 162/4 in their allotted 20 overs.
