IPL 2023: Impressed Rajinikanth Calls Up KKR's Rinku Singh- Report

Indian Premier League (IPL) is one tournament which helps put cricketers from the interiors of Indian cricket on the world map. This year too the cash-rich league has helped make several relatively unknown faces familiar ones in households engrossing the drama of the T20 action. One such cricketer that has impressed one and all this season is Rinku Singh.
The Uttar Pradesh cricketer, most famously, smashed five sixes in the last five balls of the over with 28 required to win to help Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. And it seems like Singh's knock of an unbeatean 48 off 21 impressed even superstar actor Rajinikanth.
To motivate and appreciate the cricketer, the 'Sivaji: The Boss' star personally called up Rinku as per a report carried by Entertainment Times. The same report has claimed that the 72-year-old has assured the KKR star that he would meet him whenever the cricketer comes to Chennai. Even though Rinku will be in the Tamil Nadu capital this weekend, Rajinikanth will not be in the city at that time as he will be busy shooting for his upcoming movie 'Lal Salaam' in Mumbai.
As mentioned in the same report Rinku, who speaks and understands Hindi, did not understand much of the words spoken to him by the actor but was excited at the prospect of meeting the actor later in Chennai.
As things stand, KKR are at the sixth place on the points table having played 11 matches. They have won 5 matches and lost 6 and with 10 points and a net run rate of -0.079 are pretty much alive in the race to the Playoffs. They have home matches against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as well as the game against CSK remaining to try and get into the top four.
