BCCI Confident Of Hosting IPL 2022 In India, Sourav Ganguly Tells ABP News
IPL 2022: In the latest development, the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly told ABP News that the IPL 2022 will be played in India.
Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly on Saturday told ABP News that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 will be played in India.
The developments related to the cash-rich tournament are unfolding one after another and the Mega Auction will reportedly take place on February 12 and 13.

According to Sourav Ganguly, BCCI wants to hold the marquee event in India without any spectators i.e inside empty stadiums, keeping in mind the well-being of cricketers, supporting staff, and other stakeholders amid the COVID-19 scare.
However, it will happen only if the COVID-19 cases subside further in the country, the board president told ABP News.
As per ANI, Wankhede Stadium, Cricket Club of India (CCI), DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai & Pune will be the likely venues of the 15th edition of the tournament.

The league will be played with 10 franchisees in the 2022 season. Ahmedabad and Lucknow are the two new teams that would be presented in the competition. Ahmedabad IPL team has concluded that Hardik Pandya will be the captain of their side for the IPL 2022. Lucknow, then again, has decided to make KL Rahul their captain.
Meanwhile, the apex board has additionally announced the list of players that have enrolled for the upcoming edition. The list incorporates 1214 players (270 caped, 903 uncapped, and 41 Associate players) out of which 318 are foreign players that have enlisted for the Mega Auction 2022. Out of these 1214 players, 217 can be picked by the franchises to play in the IPL 2022.
