Old Is Gold: Amit Mishra Shines As Delhi Capitals Cruised Past Mumbai Indians By 6 Wickets

IPL 2021: DC defeat MI by 6 wickets to secure second place in the points table. Delhi Capitals finally win at Chepauk after 2010.

IPL 2021, DC Vs MI: Amit Mishra puzzled the Mumbai Indians (MI) batsmen as he picked up 4 wickets and bagged the Man of the Match award. Delhi Capitals managed to pull off an easy victory against Mumbai Indians by six wickets. It was a good all-around performance by Delhi with the bat as well as with the ball.

Shikhar Dhawan anchored the simple 138 run chase in a disciplined manner. He, along with Steven Smith steadied the DC innings while the finishing touches were provided by Hetmyer and Lalit Yadav. Earlier, Mumbai Indians managed to score only 137 runs despite having a good start.

Spinners did the trick today, for DC. Amit Mishra bowled his career-best IPL figures today of 4/24 in four overs. A stellar performance by the veteran. He also won the Man of the Match award for the same. He said: ‘Just tried to bowl good areas, just try to take wickets. Different bowlers have different styles. My style is to bowl in the air. Don't want to change much. Sometimes the speed maybe. I try to understand the wicket and bowl like that.”

Let’s see what the Captains said after the match:

Rohit Sharma: “After the start we got we should have batted better in the middle overs. It is happening time and again. We aren't able to capitalize on our starts and we need to understand as a batting unit. But you have to give credit to the Delhi bowlers, they kept it tight and kept taking wickets.”

Rishabh Pant: “Mishy bhai (Amit Mishra) got us into the game. Bowlers did a great job to restrict them to 136. We like to take it into the ground, take one match at a time. He's a great Indian player we're trying to groom (Lalit Yadav), can do wonders on pitches like these. What we've learnt is if you keep wickets in hand you can chase any target.”
