More Trouble For BCCI As UAE Witness Spike In Coronavirus Cases Ahead Of IPL 2020

IPL 2020: With just 15 days left for the IPL, BCCI is worried about the increasing number of Corona positive patients in UAE.

Ahead of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, the troubles for the BCCI doesn't seem to get over. Just few days ahead of the tournament, United Arab Emirates (UAE) witnessed a steady rise in the number of Covid-19 cases which is becoming a reason of worry for all eight teams participating in the tournament and the BCCI itself. The first game of IPL 2020 is scheduled to take place between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians on September 19, with the final taking place on September 19.

According to the Emirates Ministry of Health, on Thursday, 614 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded. 639 people have recovered so far and 72,154 people have tested positive for the dreaded fast-spreading infection and 62,668 of them have been cured.

According to the Health Department of the Arab Emirates on Wednesday, 735 new Coronavirus cases were reported.

BCCI boss Sourav Ganguly on Thursday exclusively revealed to ABP News that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 schedule will be released on Friday.

“We understand schedules are delayed. It is almost on the verge of getting final and should be released by Friday”, Ganguly told ABP News.

With just 15 days left for the IPL, BCCI is worried about the increasing number of Corona positive patients in UAE.

Observing the rise in the number of Coronavirus cases, BCCI has requested different franchisees to advise the player and support staff to follow the standard operating protocol or SOPs more carefully.
