IPL 2020: Gautam Gambhir Posts Cryptic Tweet After Dinesh Karthik Steps Down As KKR Skipper
The KKR franchise released a statement regarding this, stating that Dinesh Karthik wanted to focus more on his batting. Karthik decided to give up the captaincy ahead of KKR's match against Mumbai Indians.
Wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik today decided to step down as the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Karthik's captaincy was being criticized as he was being blamed for the team's average performance so far in the tournament. Meanwhile, former KKR captain Gautam Gambhir took to social media to post a cryptic tweet, that seems to be questioning the Kolkata Knight Riders team management.

Eoin Morgan, who is the World Cup winning captain of England, has replaced Karthik as KKR skipper. Gautam Gambhir tweeted, "It takes years to build a legacy but a minute to destroy it." Now the tweet of former KKR captain is being linked to the entire episode.
Out of the seven matches that KKR has played so far, it won four and lost three to attain fourth spot in IPL 2020 points table. Karthik has scored 108 runs in seven matches so far in the current season that included one half-century. The star wicket-keeper batsman has scored a total of 3762 runs in his IPL career with 19 half-centuries in 189 matches. He also said,"We are also fortunate that Eoin Morgan, the 2019 World Cup-winning captain, who has been the vice captain, is willing to lead the side going forward. DK and Eoin have worked brilliantly together during this tournament and although Eoin takes over as captain, this is effectively a role swap and we expect that this transition will work in a seamless manner.”It takes years to build a legacy but a minute to destroy it.
