'Hasn't Been A Captain Like Him': Sunil Gavaskar Hails Former India Skipper As The Best IPL Captain

As a skipper, the former India captain has won 120 games, lost 79 games, and had one no result till the match against RR on April 12.

Cricketer turned commentator Sunil Gavaskar hailed MS Dhoni and said that he is the best skipper in the history of the Indian Premier League. He said, "there hasn't been a captain like him, and will never be one like him in future". Recently, Dhoni led CSK in 200 matches and he reached to this milestone in the game against Rajasthan Royals in Chennai on April 12.

"CSK know how to get out of tough situations. This has been possible only under MS Dhoni's captaincy. Captaining 200 matches is very difficult. Captaining so many matches is a burden and it could have affected his performance as well," Gavaskar said.

"But Mahi is different. He is a different captain. There hasn't been a captain like him and there will never be one like him in the future," stated Gavaskar in a release from IPL broadcasters.

Ever since the IPL started, Dhoni has been playing for CSK except for the two seasons because CSK was banned to take part because of match-fixing issues. Under the leadership of Dhoni, CSK have clinched the IPL title for four times. As a skipper, the former India captain has won 120 games, lost 79 games, and had one no result till the match against RR on April 12.

Gavaskar also lauded star batter Virat Kohli since he has been dominating the 2023 edition of the IPL as a batter. As of now, the 34-year-old has collected three fifties in the IPL 2023.

"Virat Kohli is giving RCB flying starts at the start of the innings. He deserves a lot of credit for the starts RCB is getting and the runs the team is managing to post on the board because of his starts. These are good signs for RCB."

MS Dhoni is the second-highest run-getter as IPL captain. Dhoni has made 4,482 runs while Virat Kohli has 4,881 runs as Royal Challengers Bangalore captain.
