Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, the Indian skipper expressed her delight at the triumph, and added that it took a 'team effort' for them to pull-off a memorable season for the inaugural WPL winners.
"Thank you. Yeah definitely, it was a great team effort. First of all, I want to congratulate the Delhi team. The way they played this season, it was never going to be an easy game tonight. We fought till the last ball even though we didn't start the way we wanted but end of the day I am pretty happy," said Harmanpreet Kaur.
"Well, to be honest, it wasn't easy when I went to bat. I had that belief that Nat is at the our end. I wanted to support her at that time and then take calculative risks. That partnership with Nat was just amazing. It really helped us to post a strong total. At the halfway stage, 150 was not a decent total for DC. It's a pressure game and 150 always looks like 180 in a Final. The bowlers provided us the breakthroughs in the powerplay. Ismail and Nat bowled really well with the new ball. Everybody bowled really well today," said the Mumbai Indians Women Captain.
"We made things pretty clear for everyone. We gave roles to everyone and we knew that we have quality 4 bowlers in our team. Whoever had a good day on that day was going to be the fifth bowler. Today, Saika had a good day and she bowled three overs for us. I think everyone contributed whenever required. I really enjoyed playing with them," said the Indian captain.
"Well it means a lot for me. First season we did a lot of things right. We did not start well this season but we wanted to keep things pretty simple. We didn't want to try too many things. As a team we did exactly what was required and we got a lot of support from our support staff. As a team we did really well. I am very happy," she added.
DC Women Skipper Reacts To 3rd Consecutive Final Defeat
Meg Lanning (Delhi Capitals Women Captain):
"Yeah, I think we have had another good season but didn't get across the line tonight. The credit goes to Mumbai who were very good in this season. I think we needed one partnership to get across the line. I think 150 was a good score to chase. But really proud of the group. We have had some really good moments but just couldn't get through tonight. I heard someone saying Mumbai might be tired. But it's about performing on the night and Mumbai were too good tonight."
"We haven't been able to put our best performances in the final. That's frustrating but that's cricket. We have prepared very well leading up to the final each time. It's different each time around. We have put ourselves in good situations to come out on top but just haven't been able to get across."
