'Tough To Make It To Indian Team, You Have To Be A Special Player': AB de Villiers
During a recent interaction, South Africa's legendary right-handed batter AB de Villiers said that the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is like a family to him.
New Delhi: South Africa's legendary right-handed batter AB de Villiers had joined Bangalore-based franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2011 and ever since then he has been their key performer. With De Villiers in their squad, RCB has played the IPL final three times. Though the team could not win the final even once, he continued to give his best for Bangalore for 10 long years.
The South African legend had announced retirement from international cricket and made himself unavailable for IPL 2022 mega auction, this year.
Meanwhile, during a recent interaction, De Villiers said that the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is like a family to him.
“RCB to me is family. I mean it has been a life-changing 10-11 years to me. Like any other family, there are ups and downs. There are beautiful, they’re amazing rides, there’s a bit of everything. There are good relationships and then there are those which go sour and that is all part of the fun. I look back with no regrets. I think back on my career at RCB as the most amazing years of my life. I have had the privilege of experiencing IPL Cricket, the Indian crowd, and the Indian way of doing things for the last 15 years”, said ABD while speaking on The RCB Podcast.
The ex-RCB batter said that he would have never played for team India if he would have born in this nation as only a special player can make it to the Indian team.
“Obviously growing up in India would have been interesting. Maybe I would have never played for India, who knows. It is tough to make it to the Indian team; you have to be a special player”, he said.
