IPL 2021, MI vs RCB: Virat Kohli Becomes 1st Indian Batsman To Score 10,000 Runs In T20 Cricket
Virat Kohli created history in the ongoing RCB vs MI match as he became the first Indian batsman to complete 10,000 runs in T20 cricket. He is only the fifth batsman to do so in the cricketing world.
New Delhi: Once again, after getting off to a dream start, Royal Challengers Bangalore failed to finish big. RCB opener Devdutt Padikal got out cheaply, but skipper Virat Kohli and Bharat stitched a solid 68-run partnership for second wicket to put their team on top.
After Virat's dismissal, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell kept the scoreboard ticking and scored a fifty too but once he got out, none of the Bangalore batsmen could get a grip over the innings and their team yet again sored a decent but below par total- 165/6. For Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah (3 for 36) and Trent Boult (1 for 17) were the pick of bowlers. Rahul Chahar and Adam Milne bagged a wicket apiece.

Apart from Kohli, other batsmen who have scored 10,000 runs in T20 cricket are Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Shoaib Malik and David Warner. Virat is now also the second fastest to score 10,000 T20 runs, followed by Chris Gayle who is the fastest to 10,000 runs in the shortest format.
After Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma is the highest run-scorer for India in T20 format. The senior Indian opener has scored a total of 9348 runs in 338 innings from 351 matches. Rohit has so far scored six centuries and 65 half-centuries in his T20 career.
Virat has has so far scored 5 centuries and 73 half-centuries in T20 format with a career best score of 113 runs. The RCB skipper is the only batsman to score more than 6000 runs in IPL.
