IPL 2021, DC vs RR: Sanju Samson's Hard-Fought 53-Ball 70 Goes In Vain As Delhi Beat Rajasthan By 33 Runs
None of Rajasthan batsmen had to reply to Delhi's lethal bowling and by the time Sanju Samson started firing with the bat, it was way too late.
New Delhi: A fine 53-ball 70 run innings from star batsman went in vain after Delhi Capitals completely overpowered Rajasthan Royals to attain an easy 33-run win over them, by a comprehensive margin of 33 runs. Rajasthan bowlers were brilliant today as they had restricted a power-packed team like Delhi with quality batsmen to a paltry 154/6 but Delhi Anrich Nortje and Avesh Khan ran in hard to take some early wickets before veteran spinner Ashwin came in and tightened the grip even further to choke Rajasthan in the final overs.
Chasing 154 for the win, Rajasthan lost three wickets for just 17 runs inside the powerplay. They needed someone to just stick there and make solid partnerships but none of Rajasthan batsmen had to reply to Delhi's lethal bowling and by the time Sanju Samson started firing with the bat, it was way too late.
After an emphatic win over Rajasthan, Rishabh Pant-led Delhi is almost certain to reach IPL 2021 playoffs.
In the current season, this is Delhi's 8th win from 10 matches. Delhi leapfrogged Chennai to move to top of IPL 14 points table. They now have 16 points. Chennai Super Kings, who are now at number two, have 14 points from 9 games. At the same time, Rajasthan today faced its 5th defeat and is at number six in points table with 8 points from 9 matches.
