‘IPL Auction Coming As Well, So...': Rohit Sharma Teases Yuzvendra Chahal After India Wins 1st ODI
Team India's leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal might trigger a bidding war in the upcoming IPL auction on February 12 and 13 as he wasn't retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
New Delhi: Team India's leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was breathing fire against West Indies in the Ind vs WI 1st ODI at Ahmedabad and in the process, attained the feat of completing 100 ODI wickets as well. After India won the series opener, Rohit Sharma interviewed Chahal.
India decided to bowl first after winning the toss at Ahmedabad's spin-friendly track. Taking advantage of the pitch, Yuzvendra Chahal and all-rounder Washington Sundar picked up four and three wickets, respectively, to restrict Windies to a paltry 176.
Skipper Rohit Sharma's hard-fought 60 run knock helped India chase down the target easily. India faced a bit of a wobble as the hosts lost quick four wickets for just 10 runs. However, debutant Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav hanged around to wrap things up nicely.
Chahal, who made his debut in 2016, has so far bagged 103 wickets in 60 ODIs. The spinner might trigger a bidding war in the upcoming IPL auction on February 12 and 13 as he wasn't retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
“It feels great. My career has seen ups and downs in the last five years. But it’s a good feeling when you take 100 wickets in any format, it’s a big thing. I had never imagined I will achieve it this early. I continued bowling with the same approach,” Chahal said in the interaction with Rohit, CricTracker reported.
“I have changed the angle a bit, especially for slow wickets. When I was not a part of the team, I was thinking about the improvement I can bring in my bowling. I used to see other bowlers who used to get a bit side arm for these wickets, so I also noticed that the release is much quicker and there is more effort from the wrist in that case,” he added.
Talk about role reversal 🔁

Rohit ended the interview by telling Chahal to continue with the good work and wished him luck to go for big money in the IPL auction.
“You are a key player for us, I want you to play with that mindset. There will always be ups and downs. But it is very important to play with the right mindset. And the auction is coming as well, so good luck,” Rohit advised.
