India's Tour Of South Africa: From Ashwin To Iyer, Top Players To Watch Out For
Let's have a look at four players, who might emerge as star performers during India's tour of South Africa.
New Delhi: Team India will leave for the South Africa tour in the next few days. The three-match Test series between the two teams will start from December 26.
Recently, India had defeated WTC champions New Zealand 1-0 in the two-match Test series. The visitors will face a tough challenge on foreign soil against South Africa.
Few days ago, BCCI announced India's Test squad for the South Africa tour. Let's have a look at four players, who might emerge as star performers during India's tour of South Africa.
1. Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin, who took 14 wickets in two Test matches against New Zealand, will once again have all eyes on him. He is the senior most spinner of the team and his record on foreign soil is also very good. Ashwin can prove to be a 'game changer' on the tour of South Africa.
2. Mayank Agarwal
In the second Test against New Zealand, Mayank Agarwal scored 150 runs in the first innings, then contributed with 62 runs in the second innings. If Mayank gets a chance to play against South Africa, then he can play an important role in giving India a strong start. However, it will also be interesting to see whether KL Rahul will get a chance in the playing XI or Mayank Agarwal will be trusted.
3. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer made his Test debut in the first match against New Zealand. He contributed with 105 runs in the first innings of his debut Test and then scored 65 runs in the second innings. Iyer has been included in the Test team for the tour of South Africa.
4. Mohammad Siraj
Fast-bowler Mohammad Siraj was included in India's playing XI in the Mumbai Test against New Zealand. In the first innings of this match, he broke the back of the visiting team by taking 3 early wickets. If Ishant Sharma does not return to his rhythm on the South African tour, he can be given a chance in his place.
