23-Year-Old Star Replaces Injured Deepak Chahar For Remaining ODIs Vs South Africa

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) senior selection committee on Saturday included all-rounder Washington Sundar in place of injured pacer Deepak Chahar in Indian squad for remaining two matches of the One-Day-International (ODI) series between India and South Africa. Chahar had a stiff back after the third and final T20I match against South Africa in Indore and was not included in India's playing XI in the first ODI in Lucknow.
The Indian pacer will now return to Bengaluru's National Cricket Academy (NCA) and the medical team there will supervise him. After this, the third and final ODI between India and South Africa will be played on 11th October at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

“He (Chahar) will now head back to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and will be monitored by the Medical Team there,” the BCCI stated in an official release.

It was reported by PTI on Friday that Chahar had suffered a twisted ankle.
"Deepak has sustained a twisted ankle but it's not too serious. However a few days of rest might be advisable," a source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
