Ind vs Eng: BCCI Asks Players To Stay Indoors, Limit Public Appearances - Report

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) advised players to limit public appearances and hangouts and stay indoors, ANI reported.

New Delhi: Team India is currently touring England for one-off Test and ODI and T20 series. Unfortunately, the Coronavirus situation in England is still not totally under control but still the management decided to lift bio-bubble and isolation-related barriers. The players have also failed to protect the side from dreaded infection. On Saturday, senior opener Rohit Sharma tested Coronavirus positive in a RT-PCR test when he was playing four-day warm-up game against Leicestershire.

Taking note of the situation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) advised players to limit public appearances and hangouts and stay indoors, ANI reported.

A source from BCCI told ANI, "The board has scolded some players over their habit of hanging out in public. It also seems some players went in public and clicked pictures with fans, which could be dangerous. We had told them to stay careful but they still often roamed around in the city which is not required, so we asked them again to take precautions."

Few days back, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli took selfies with fans in Leicestershire and London, where the Indian team was preparing for warm-up match. There were also reports that Rohit and Virat had shopped without wearing masks.

The Covid-19 positivity rate is still very high in United Kingdom with over 10,000 new cases being reported every day in the country.
