Background

India vs New Zealand 2nd T20I: The second match of the ongoing three-match T20 series between India and New Zealand will be played in Ranchi today. The match will start at 7 pm IST. There is tremendous enthusiasm among cricket lovers in Ranchi about the international match being held at this ground after four years. Thousands of people from outside Jharkhand too have come to witness this match. All the hotels in the city are fully booked. The entry of spectators started in JSCA Stadium from 3 pm IST.

India had defeated New Zealand in the 1st T20I and tonight will aim to continue their winning streak and take 2-0 unassailable lead in the three-match series.

Jharkhand government has allowed 100 percent occupancy of seats in this stadium which has a capacity of 39,000 spectators. This is the first time that Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the beloved of this city, will not be playing for India in an international cricket match taking place in Ranchi.

However, Dhoni is present in Ranchi and it is expected that he will reach the stadium to watch the match. Fans there will also hope that local boy Ishan Kishan gets a chance in the playing XI of team India.

New Zealand team reached the stadium on Friday morning and practiced for about three hours. The head coach of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid, inspected the pitch on Thursday evening itself. Players of both the teams are staying at Hotel Radisson Blu located at Kadru More in Ranchi. Teams will leave for the stadium from there at 5.30 pm.

Good security arrangements have been made in the stadium. Apart from more than 500 policemen, hundreds of private security guards have been deployed. The police have installed drones to monitor any unwanted or suspicious activity. CCTVs have also been installed on the roads leading to the stadium.
