The return was emotional as the American footballer featured for the first time in almost four years and ever since his association with the German club, it was his first ever home appearance, as 'The Yellow Wall' got to witness one of its brighest stars finally feature in a competitive fixture.

Borussia Dortmund welcomed Freiburg in a crucial Bundesliga fixture as both sides are in great contention for respective European spots, as 4th placed Borussia Dortmund are looking to solidify their hold on the automatic qualification spot for UEFA Champions League, while 7th placed Freiburg are going neck-to-neck with 2022 UEFA Europa League winners, Frankfurt, for a Europa Conference League spot.
