La Liga 2023-24: Luka Modric rolled down the years and gave football fans yet another 'Magical Modric' moment, as the Croatian scored a banger of a winner against rivals Sevilla FC in Matchday 26 of thei La Liga fixture on Monday, February 26. The goal was enough as Real won the fixture 1-0 and extend their unbeaten run in the league to 20 games, with their last and only league defeat this season came at the hands of fierce and city rivals, Atletico Madird, back in September 2023.

Real Madrid Vs Sevilla FC La Liga 2023/24 Matchday 26 Fixture - Match Report

Real Madrid hosted Sevilla FC at the iconic Estadio Santiago Bernabau, as both sides looked to do their bit of justice to their respective stories this season. A resilient Real Madird wanted to shrug off the stalemate at Rayo Vallecano to continue the process of extending their lead atop of La Liga table and be the runaway leaders, whereas, the reigning UEFA Europa League winners, Sevilla FC, were finding it hard to even enter the top half of the table, with the season approaching its end.

Carlo Ancelotti's men started the match brighly as Lucas Vazquez opened the scoring inside the firt 10 minutes of the game, only for the goal to be ruled out after VAR overruled the decision. Sevilla looked highly dangerous on the counter attcaks and had few great opportunities of their own in the second half to win the match, but they miscued their chances badly.

The game, which was seemingly heading towards a goalless stalemate, found its first blood in the 81th minute when Luka Modric took a majestic first touch outsdie the box and took the shot with his second touch that richochet'ed off the inside of the post to end up in the back of the net, as Real earned 3 vital points with a 1-0 victory.
