I-League Twitter Account Gets Blocked For 'Suspicious Activity’, AIFF General Secretary Requests Elon Musk To Intervene
This isn't the first case of an important social media account of Indian football being blocked.
In not the best of advertisements for Indian football, the official handle of I-League was suspended owing to suspicious login attempts. The incident does not paint a very bright picture of the tournament which is the second-tier men's professional football competition of the Indian football league system.
After social media giant blocked the account, the General Secretary of the Indian football's governing body- All India Football Federation (AIFF) Dr Shaji Prabhakaran called it "worrying" that another key account of Indian football was blocked. He even requested the Chief Executive Officer of Twitter Elon Musk to intervene in the matter.
It is worth pointing out that this isn't the first case of an important social media account of Indian football being blocked. Not much earlier, AIFF's official Youtube Channel had been suspended. The President of the Indian football governing body Kalyan Chaubey had then claimed that the account had been hacked during the streaming of the Santosh Trophy matches but later was blocked.
Prabhakaran, in his tweet, also referred to the Youtube ban. "After YouTube now Hero I-League. Official Twitter handle locked by @Twitter due to suspicious login attempts. It is worrying that one of the key official handles of #IndianFootball got locked. @elonmusk request your intervention. Please help us. This is part of some design," he wrote on Twitter.
