FIFA World Cup 2022: Serbia, Cameroon Share Points In 3-3 Draw In Crucial Group G Tie

FIFA World Cup 2022: Serbia and Cameroon had to be content with a 3-3 draw in their Group G tie on Monday.

In a highly exciting Fifa World Cup Group G match that held fans glued to their seats till the last minute, Serbia and Cameroon shared the points in a 3-3 draw on Monday.

The encounter was held at the Al Janoub stadium in Al Wakrah, Qatar. Both teams, having lost their opening matches in the World Cup, were looking to win this match to climb up the points table.

At present, Brazil tops the Group G points table with 3 points from 1 game, followed by Switzerland with the same stats. Monday's draw place Cameroon and Serbia on the third and fourth spots.

Cameroon scored the first goal of the game with Jean-Charles Castelletto tapping the ball into the net from a corner by Pierre Kunde in the 29th minute.

Serbia, however, struck back quickly, taking advantage of a dead-ball opportunity in the added time and scoring an equaliser. Strahinja Pavlovic brought about the equalizer, directing a free kick into the back of the net in 45+1 minute of playtime.

The double whammy for Cameroon came for Cameroon immediately just two minutes later as Sergej Milinkovic-Savic beat the Cameroon defence and put the ball into the net past goalie Davies Epassy Mboka. This gave Serbia a 2-1 lead at half-time from being down 0-1.

Serbia kept up the attack even after halftime, scoring another goal as Dusan Tadic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic built up a brilliant play, confounding Mboka, for Aleksandar Mitrović to just tap the ball into an empty net in the 53rd minute.

However, Cameroon’s resilience could be seen as it returned from the half-time break and changed tact. Despite conceding another goal, Cameroon ploughed on and found an opening in the 64th minute. Captain Vincent Aboubkar shot a chip over Serbia goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic Savic and found the goal to get back into the game.

The see-saw of the match continued its thrill as two minutes later Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who found himself in space, tapped the ball into the net to give Cameroon the equalizer.

Both teams held on from there till the final whistle.
