Argentina Rejects Luxury Of 5 Star Hotel To Stay At Qatar University During FIFA World Cup - See Pics

Argentina reportedly rejected staying in a five-star hotel and opted for a student's dorm in Qatar University.

Lionel Messi-starrer Argentina, the South American titans, are considered to be one of the favorites to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup trophy in Qatar. Messi, who will most likely be playing his final World Cup, steered his team to a sensational maiden Copa America in 2021 and the Finalissima 2022 trophy. Argentina have lined up a solid squad for the tournament and fans are hoping for 35-year-old Messi to create history by lifting the trophy in Qatar and consolidate his legacy as the best footballer to have ever walked on the face of this planet.

Argentina have won the World Cup title twice so far (1978 and 1966). The Lionel Messi-led side will commence their World Cup quest with a match against Saudi Arabia on 22nd November. Argentina are placed in a tricky Group C, along with Poland, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico.

Meanwhile, pictures have gone viral on social media which shows the 'dorm' where Argentinian football team will be staying. As per several media reports, Argentina reportedly rejected staying in a five-star hotel and opted for a student's dorm in Qatar University. An official exclusively told Daily Mail that Argentina chose the dorm mainly because it has open-air space for 'Asados' (social event of having a barbecue).

"We visited the campus several times and chose it because not only does it have great facilities but it also has open-air space for Asados. This is very important to the players and Argentines in general, it's part of our culture," an official told Daily Mail.

"We want to make them feel at home while they are in Qatar and the best way to do this is to make sure that they get a taste of home while focusing on the football."

FIFA World Cup 2022 is set to start from 20th November, 2022, in Qatar. The tournament will kick-off with a match between hosts Qatar and Ecuador. FIFA World Cup 2022 will be played from 20th November to 18th December. A total of 32 teams are participating in the mega football tournament.
