'Apologise To My PSG Teammates': Lionel Messi Releases Video Following Suspension Over Saudi Trip

Messi got suspended for two weeks as he went to  Saudi Arabia which was an unauthorized trip.

Argentine star footballer Lionel Messi has apologized to the club and supporters after getting suspended by Paris Saint Germain for an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia.

A journalist named Fabrizio Romano shared a video on his Twitter handle where Messi is spotted saying,  “I thought we were going to have a day off after the game as always. I had this trip organized and I couldn’t cancel it. I had already canceled it before. I apologize to my teammates and I’m waiting for what the club wants to do with me.”

PSG manager Christophe Galtier stated that he is not responsible for the club’s decision to suspend Lionel Messi and he also criticized the Ligue 1 side’s fans for protesting outside Neymar’s house.

“I was informed by the board at the start of the week of the decision to suspend Messi. When I was informed, I had the responsibility of not commenting on it,” Galtier told a press conference.

“I’m employed by the club and that is my role… The decision was nothing to do with me. I was informed of the decision.

“Leo’s suspension has added to poor performances, we can’t hide behind that… I can’t say it has been a pleasant period. There’s a target to achieve, players are working hard. We are focused and committed.”

Earlier, according to the French media, Messi got suspended for two weeks as he went to  Saudi Arabia which was an unauthorized trip. Instead of going there, he was expected to train with his team after their 3-1 loss at home to Lorient in the league on Sunday.

PSG's contract with Messi is ending this summer and as per reports, Saudi Arabia-based club  Al Hilal is interested to sign Messi to the league that contains both him and Cristiano Ronaldo.
