FIR lodged against Maria Sharapova for endorsing Gurugram housing project

New Delhi [India], Nov 3 (ANI): A Delhi court has directed police to register an FIR against Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova and real estate builder 'Homestead Infrastructure Development Pvt Ltd' for endorsing a Gurgaon-based luxury housing project which never took off.

The FIR has been lodged against the builder company, its office bearers and Sharapova for offence of cheating and collecting Rs 53 lakh from investors on the pretext of a project named 'Ace by Sharapova' when even property was not acquired for the said project.

Sharapova is accused number four in the 156 (3) CRPC application which was filed before the Rohini Court by a homebuyer, who invested in a luxury housing project in Gurugram.

It should be noted that Sharapova had also supported the project in the eyes of the general public

Last year, homebuyers of Amrapali had trolled former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Twitter for the delay in the completion of the housing project while also forcing the wicketkeeper-batsman to quit as the brand ambassador of the Amrapali group. (ANI)
