Australia Beat England By 19 Runs In 1st ODI At Manchester, Take 1-0 Lead In Series

Aaron Finch-led Australia began the 3-match ODI series against arch rivals England on a winning note as they beat the hosts by 19 runs in the series opener played at the Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. Maxwell was the chief tormentor smashing 4 sixes in his whirlwind 77 off 59 deliveries. Meanwhile, Marsh kept the scoreboard ticking with a well compiled 73 before falling leg before wicket to Wood. Chasing a daunting 295-run target, England got off to a horrendous start as seamer Josh Hazelwood struck two crucial blows to dismiss opener Jason Roy and skipper Joe Root in quick succession. English skipper Eoin Morgan looked to stage a fightback but fell to Zampa for 23. When Zampa had Buttler out for , England's chase England's innings looked completely derailed. Sam Billings and Jonny Bairstow gave the hosts a bit of chance by scoring resilient ton and half century respectively but it was too late in the day for the hosts to pull off a win as the run rate climbed to almost 10 runs an over at the last stage of the matches.
