Djokovic powers into third round of Wimbledon

London [UK], July 6 (ANI): World number two Novak Djokovic on Thursday eased through to the third round of Wimbledon after registering a straight-sets win over Adam Pavlasek of the Czech Republic.

Second seed Djokovic defeated Pavlasek 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 in a match that lasted for 93 minutes.

The 30year-old rarely looked troubled against the world number 136, who was making his debut at the Championships.

The three-time champion will now face either Juan Martin del Potro or Ernests Gulbis on Saturday for a place in the last 16.

"I managed to impose my own rhythm and play the game I intended to play," Djokovic said at the post match press conference.

"I feel better as days go by in Wimbledon. I have been in this position before so I will try to use that experience, knowing what to do on a daily basis and to get myself in the right shape, the right state of mind and hopefully the right performance. From my side, it was all working well."

Earlier, the Serbian recorded his 234th Grand Slam match win in the opening round of the tournament after his opponent Martin Klizan pulled out after 40 minutes due to a calf problem. (ANI)
