World Cup 2019: Heavy rain to play spoilsport in IND vs NZ game, says weather report
The weather forecast shows that the temperature in Nottingham could be as low as 13 degrees celsius and drizzles can be expected
Heavy rain in England and South Wales have been playing spoilsport in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. So far, three of the league matches have already been washed off and now the drizzling threat surmounts India’s clash with New Zealand at Trent Bridge on Thursday.
The Rain God has already barred both the sides from their scheduled practice session on Tuesday. While the Indian team had to cancel their training session, the Kiwis had a soccer and volleyball session at indoor facilities.
Coming to the match day, the forecast shows that the temperature in Nottingham could be as low as 13 degrees celsius and drizzles can be expected.
The met department also expects 'heavy prolonged rain' that could lead to 'localised flooding'. While the overhead conditions are expected to get better by afternoon, a rain-curtailed game isn't something that either team will be looking at as outside forces then take centrestage like the D/L system.
“A Yellow Warning for rain is in force in the Nottingham area for most of this week,” local website 'Nottingham post' reported.
As per local Met Office weather forecast for Nottingham, the heavy rain will continue till 7pm on Wednesday.
“That lighter rain is expected to finally come to an end at about lunchtime on Thursday. The maximum temperatures will be around 13 degree Celsius and minimum overnight temperatures will be around 10 or 11 degree Celsius,” the website reported.
Wrath of rain in ICC World Cup 2019
Persistent rainfall this week has seen little cricket played. In the game between South Africa and West Indies, the former managed to reach 29/2 in 7.3 overs before rains brought an end to the proceedings. The next game between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was abandoned without a ball being bowled. Wednesday's game between Australia and Pakistan would be the first time this week when a venue doesn't have rain threat as the weather in Taunton shows overcast conditions only.
