World Cup 2019: Dhoni Was "Run-out Of A No-Ball" Creates Controversy
New Zealand eventually pulled off a sensational win over title contenders India and made it to their second successive World Cup final
India former captain MS Dhoni, in what could be his last international innings, was run-out by a direct throw from Martin Guptill. This was after Dhoni and Jadeja raised visions of an improbable win after adding 116 runs for the seventh wicket, coming together at 92 for six. Dhoni, who scored 50 off 72 balls, was there, he knew the match could have gone either way in those final overs.
While Dhoni was taking his stance off Lockie Ferguson’s bowling, TV screens displayed a graphic which showed that New Zealand had placed six fielders outside the 30-yard circle. A video on Twitter sparked a massive debate on the legality of the delivery as according to the rules only five are permitted of the ball in the third powerplay. However, even if it was a no-ball, Dhoni, would still be run out as a batsman can be run out of a no-ball.
There were 6 fielders outside the 30 yard circle when Dhoni was run out. Shame on Umpires for this level of awareness and that too in World Cup Semi-final 👿👿👿 pic.twitter.com/ocA8xSuNbz

Glaring umpiring error? Could they afford this in a World Cup semi final? 6 players outside the circle... how long did they play like that in P3? #INDvNZL #Dhoni pic.twitter.com/Hb5UlA4tsI

With Indian hopes lying firm on their ever dependable finisher MS Dhoni, a turning point of the match came into effect when Martin Guptill produced a brilliant run-out to send Dhoni back to the pavilion. There weren’t six fielders outside the circle. And even if there were you can be run out off a no-ball.

With the run-rate piling up it was too much of a task for the Indian tail enders to pull off the chase. New Zealand eventually pulled off a sensational win over title contenders India and made it to their second successive World Cup final.WHAT A MOMENT OF BRILLIANCE!
