Women's World T20: Pacer Pooja Vastrakar ruled out due to injury

The injury has surely have disappointed the fast-bowler as she was eyeing on a return to the international circuit

India have received a huge blow in the middle of the ICC Women’s World T20I. Pace bowler Pooja Vastrakar has been ruled out of the tournament after she sustained an injury during a pre-tournament practice game. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Devika Vaidya as her replacement after the event technical committee's approval.

She is expected to join the squad before India play their semifinal game on November 22.

Vastrakar was taken out of the field during a practice game on November. However, she was subsequently a part of the squad without playing a single game. The injury has surely have disappointed the fast-bowler as she was eyeing on a return to the international circuit after an ankle injury which forced her out of the Women's Challenger trophy and the series against Sri Lanka earlier this year.

As far as India’s standing the in the ongoing tournament is concerned, the women in blue have cruised into the semi-finals after beating Ireland on Thursday by 52 runs. They will now take on Australia on Saturday and the match result will decide who amongst them will finish at the top of Group B.
