Women's World T20: ICC announces team of the tournament

Based on the performances during the 16-day tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday announced the squad of the Women’s World T20

The Australian eves became the world champions in the shortest format of the game, a match which was a pure one-sided encounter. Australia hammered England by 8 wickets to win the Women’s World Twenty20 title on the Caribbean island of Antigua on Saturday, 24th November.

Based on the performances during the 16-day tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday announced the squad of the Women’s World T20. The squad was selected by an esteemed selection panel comprising of Ian Bishop, Anjum Chopra and Ebony Rainford-Brent, journalist Melinda Farrell and ICC’s General Cricket Manager Geoff Allardice.

The team consists of three English and Indian cricketers, a couple of Australians and one each from Pakistan, New Zealand and Windies.

India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who was the second highest run scorer in the tournament was also announced as the skipper of the team. Pakistan’s Javeria Khan was also a part of the team.

England women crushed India’s dream to enter the finals of the Women’s World T20 by defeating them by 8 wickets in the semis at Sir Vivian Richards cricket stadium in Antigua. Despite ending as the table toppers in the group stages, the Indian eves returned home disappointed.
