As per the reports by ESPNCricinfo, India’s star players Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer are expected to make their comeback in India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2023. Bumrah has been away from action since September 2022 because of his back injury and as a result, he missed out on taking part in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Back in April, Bumrah had surgery on his lower back in New Zealand. Shreyas on the other hand, also underwent surgery back in May in London, after sustaining a lower back injury. He missed out on playing the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in March in Ahmedabad.
Iyer was advised to take a rest and focus on his rehab as because of the injury he already missed the final Test against Australia during the recently passed Border-Gavaskar Trophy and also the ODI series against the visitors.
