This is not the first time a cricketer has been spotted for chewing a gum, earlier, Jammu and Kashmir cricketer Parvez rasool faced similar criticism for his act during his debut for India against England in January this year.
The first Test match between India and Sri Lanka witnessed a three-hour delay before Sri Lankan pacer Suranga Lakmal wreaked havoc to dismiss Indian openers and skipper Virat Kohli, who himself departed for a rare duck.
The game was called off for the day due to bad lights. India 17/3 at stumps.
