New Delhi: Niroshan Dickwella struck a crucial 68 to spoil de Villiers’s return to international cricket as Sri Lanka beat South Africa by five wickets in Wednesday’s Twenty20 international at Newlands to secure its first trophy on South African soil.


While,De Villiers who had not played an international match since June last year due to an elbow injury smashed 63 runs off 44 deliveries as the hosts won the toss and elected to bat.


But the match will be remembered for Asela Gunaratne’s premature celebrations that became a topic of discussion on social networking websites. Sri Lanka still needed a run off two deliveries to win the game, but Gunaratne believed that the job had been completed and he uprooted the stumps while celebrating.
