WATCH: After 637 balls Shardul Thakur writes HISTORY with this shot
The men-in-blue could hit only 6 sixes in the entire series
The 2nd India vs England ODI at Lord’s on Saturday turned out to be the first match since 2011 World Cup semi-final where the Indian batsmen failed to hit even a single six in a complete innings.
Thanks to Shardul Thakur who went for those two biggies in the 49th over at Headingley otherwise this would have been the first time since the 1988 Sharjah Champions Trophy where India failed to hit sixes in consecutive ODIs.
Though India lost the series 1-2 to England, Thakur’s those two massive shots have found a special place in the record books of cricket.
After the first ODI in Manchester, the Indian batters took exactly 637 consecutive deliveries to hit a biggie. After such a long break, Thakur was the one who smashed Ben Stokes for a whopping six during the third ODI.

Interestingly, with those two sixes, Thakur turned out to be the only second player after Rohit Sharma to hit a six for India in the entire ODI series. Rohit hit four sixes in the first match in Nottingham and got his 18th ODI ton.
The men-in-blue could hit only 6 sixes in the entire series. The batsmen made 727 runs in 841 balls they batted in this series hitting 71 fours.
