WATCH: Pant Regrets, Rohit Facepalms After DRS Howler Against Bangladesh In 1st T20I
While India lost the review, Rohit was seen walking towards Pant with a cheeky smile and ended up facepalming himself
India’s defeat against Bangladesh in the Delhi T20 disclosed several loopholes that need to be addressed wisely before the next face-off. On Sunday, the hosts committed several mistakes on the field including poor fielding efforts and dropped catches. A wrong DRS call by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was one of the factors that made life tougher for India under poor air quality.
During the 10th over of Bangladesh's innings, Pant convinced stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma to go for a review as the former thought there was an edge off Soumya Sarkar’s blade. Obliging to the stumper’s call, the captain utilised the DRS but ultimately found himself at the receiving end.
The UltraEdge showed a flat line as the ball went past the bat. While India lost the review, Rohit was seen walking towards Pant with a cheeky smile and ended up facepalming himself.

— Jagadhish D (@MSdhoni7788) November 3, 2019Prior to this incident, the men-in-blue didn’t take the LBW review in Yuzvendra Chahal’s over as the replay clearly showed the ball hitting the stumps. It was Mushfiqur Rahim who was struck around the leg-stump. Indian missed the opportunity and the Bangla stumper won the game single-handedly as he played a ravishing knock of 60 runs and remained unbeaten. When the same issue was raised in the post-match press conference, Rohit said, “When you are not in the right position, you have to trust your bowler and wicket-keeper to make a decision. Rishabh is still very young, he has hardly played 10-12 T20 games. So he will need time to understand those kinds of things.”
