WATCH: England Awarded 5 Penalty Runs After Ball Hits Pakistan Keeper's Discarded Gloves During T20 World Cup Clash

The incident happened in the 15th over of England's batting innings.

In a bizarre incident which happened during the Women's T20 World Cup 2023 clash between Pakistan and England, as many as five penalty runs were awarded to the Three Lions because of a blunder from the Pakistan stumper Sidra Nawaz. The wicketkeeper from the Asian side had taken off her gloves to collect the ball during the 15th over of the England's batting innings but in a massive blunder after collecting the ball from a throw, she dropped it in the glove that she had kept on the ground.

The on-field umpires were quick to take a note of the incident and reprimanded Pakistan by awarding 5 penalty runs to England. The International Cricket Council (ICC) later shared a video of the incident on its social media.

"England are given five penalty runs after the ball hits the abandoned 'keeper gloves 😲 #cricket #cricketreels #ENGvPAK #T20WorldCup #TurnItUp," the world's cricket governing body wrote along with the clip.

Talking about the match, Pakistan were completely outplayed in their final Group-B fixture. They had nothing going their way on the day and after losing the toss and being asked to field first, they conceded 213 runs. In response, the Women in Green were bogged down by the humungous total and could only manage 99 in their quota of 20 overs, losing by 114 runs and bowing out of the competition.

Only 2 of the 5 Pakistani bowlers had an economy of under 10 on Tuesday in Nashra Sandhu and Tuba Hassan but even they conceded 39 and 37 runs respectively. Fatima Sana picked up 2 wickets but went for 44 runs in her 4 overs. Nida Dar was the most expensive, going for 47 runs.

Nat Sciver-Brunt and Danielle Wyatt were the top-performers for England scoring an unbeaten 81 off 40 and 59 off 33 respectively.
