WATCH: Dhoni runs out as a fielder during the warm-up game against NZ
In the warm-up clash against New Zealand, former skipper Dhoni decided to hand over the wicket-keeping responsibility to Dinesh Karthik as the veteran jogged towards the deep fine-leg to contribute as a regular fielder.
With the World Cup around the corner, presence of former skipper M.S. Dhoni in the team, especially behind the stumps, is "priceless". The selflessness with which Dhoni conducts himself makes him the ideal leader for team India. The forthcoming World Cup is likely to be Dhoni's final appearance and the iconic veteran will look to ‘finish it off in style’.
However, in the warm-up clash against New Zealand, former skipper Dhoni decided to hand over the wicket-keeping responsibility to Dinesh Karthik as the veteran jogged towards the deep fine-leg to contribute as a regular fielder. At the start of the match, Dhoni did not joined India when they started to bowl but later decided to change his role and turn into a regular fielder.
The Indian crowd present at the Oval was thrilled to see Dhoni as a fielder and cheered ‘Dhoni’ chants to encourage the former skipper.
Kohli admitted his side couldn't execute their plans as they were humiliated by New Zealand in the warm-up game at Oval. New Zealand star speedster Trent Boult starred with 4-33 as India was bowled out for 179. "Didn't go to plan. Good challenge up front though. We can expect that in some places in England when conditions are overcast. From 50 for 4 to get to 180 was a good effort," Kohli said after New Zealand overhauled the 180-run target in 37.1 overs to hand India a six-wicket defeat in the first warm-up match of the World Cup.Thala fielding at the boundary and Dhoni #Dhoni chants at the #IndvNZ warmup game. #CWC19 Thanks @chigz10 for this special one !!. pic.twitter.com/AvZnMKUIHW
