Australia wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey on Thursday received medical treatment immediately after blood streamed down his chin during the second semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup against England at Edgbaston. The incident happened during the last ball of the eighth over when young English fast bowler Jofra Archer struck Carey with one of his short balls. The Aussie stumper got hit on his chin as he looked away and duck. The helmet came off and his chin area started bleeding. Luckily the ball bounced away from the stumps as well. Here’s the video: The Australian physio ran into the field and applied bandages on Carey’s face. He continued batting with injury and went on to stitch a partnership of 103 runs for the 4^th wicket along with Steven Smith before getting out on 46.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. The Down Under side brought in Peter Handscomb in their playing XI for injured Usman Khawaja. While England went in with the same team from their last league match. The winner of the second semi-final will meet New Zealand in the World Cup final at Lord's on July 14.
