Virat Kohli changed his Display Picture (DP) on Twitter to pay tribute to 'salute' and pay his respect to police personnel
Team India captain Virat Kohli on Sunday changed his Display Picture (DP) on the popular social media platform Twitter to Maharashtra Police logo. The star batsman came up with this gesture to 'salute' and pay his respect to police personnel, who have always been there for civilians during tough times.
Virat Kohli also urged his followers to 'join him in his endeavour' as his post read: "Maharashtra police has stood by citizens through calamities, attacks and disasters. Today as they lead war against coronavirus on the streets, I have decided to celebrate them by changing by DP here on Twitter to Maharashtra police logo. Join me in this endeavour."
Recently, Virat and his wife Anushka Sharma contributed Rs 5 lakh each towards Mumbai Police welfare. Taking to Twitter, Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh wrote: "Thank you, @imVkohli and @AnushkaSharma for contributing Rs 5 lacs each towards the welfare of Mumbai Police personnel. Your contribution will safeguard those at the frontline in the fight against Coronavirus. #MumbaiPoliceFoundation." Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 has been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus outbreak. A few days back, in an interview, Virat Said ricket would be played with great intensity even behind closed doors amid COVID-19 pandemic. However, he said it will be difficult to have the same magical moments without fans in empty stadiums. "It's quite a possible situation, it might happen, I honestly don't know how everyone is going to take that because we all are used to playing in front of so many passionate fans," said Kohli while speaking on Star Sports 'Cricket Connected' show.Maharashtra Police has stood by citizens through calamities, attacks & disasters. Today as they lead the war against Corona on the streets, I've decided to celebrate them by changing my DP here on Twitter to the Maharashtra Police logo. Join me in this endeavour. 🙏🏼
