T20 World Cup, IND Vs NZ: New Zealand Have Upper-Hand Over India In ICC Tournaments | Match Preview

T20 World Cup: India's last win against New Zealand in any ICC tournament came way back in 2003. Post that, India played the Kiwis but never managed to win a game since 18 years.

T20 WC 2021: India and New Zealand will face each other on Sunday in the ICC T20 World Cup (ICC T20 WC). Both the teams have lost their last match and their eyes will be on winning this match that is to be played at Dubai International Stadium.

Team India has lost its first match in this tournament and now the team will have to win this match to remain in the semi-final race. It will not be easy for Team India to beat New Zealand. If we look at the previous record, then New Zealand seems to have an upper-hand in ICC events.

The Indian team could not win in ICC tournament against New Zealand for 18 years

After the 2003 World Cup, the Indian team has not been able to beat New Zealand in any ICC tournament so far. In the year 2007, India had to face defeat against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup. After this, the Indian team was also defeated in the 2016 T20 World Cup. Apart from this, in the year 2019, a match between the two teams in the ODI World Cup was inconclusive, while India was defeated by 18 runs in the semi-finals of the same ODI World Cup.

Not only this, New Zealand's team defeated India in the final of the World Test Championship held this year.

Here's an Interesting Fan-Edit:

Head to head statistics of both the teams in T20 Internationals

A total of 16 T20I matches have been played between the teams so far, out of which New Zealand has won eight matches. India has won six matches, while two matches were tied. From this point of view also, New Zealand has the upper hand. Although the Indian team is also very strong, India will have to perform out of their skins to register a win.

All eyes will be on these players of India

If the Indian team has to win the match against New Zealand, then both the batsman and the bowlers will have to perform well. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, who flopped in the last match, will be expected to start well. Captain Virat Kohli played a good innings in the last match and once again getting runs from his bat will be a good sign for the Indian team.

Team India's Predicted XI: KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami.
