New Zealand Women veteran all-rounder Sophie Devine is set to return to international cricket action after a three-month off period due to injury, as the White Ferns are set to host Australia Women in a three-match T20I series starting this Friday, March 21.
Upon her return, the 35-year-old addressed her retirement rumours, and informed the media that the thought of 'Women's ODI World Cup glory' inspired her to give more time to international cricket.

"Completely honest? Yep. Certainly. To be able to have to process through a few of those things. Obviously, I'm unfortunately not getting any younger, so they naturally sort of came into mind. But for me, yeah, look, just really excited to be here, just going to be focusing on each day as it comes and just really enjoying every day with the White Ferns," said Sophie Devine.

"We've got a pretty big World Cup coming up later this year, which – all going well – hopefully I'll be at. Certainly the World Cup was probably the biggest one. I still felt like I've got a little bit more to give in the black shirt. So for me, I guess that opportunity was there, but also being okay with the fact that if I was done, I've had a pretty good run of it. But certainly watching the girls over the last couple of weeks, there's certainly a big itch there that's still to scratch," she added.
Sophie Devine's ODI Career So Far
The New Zealand Women cricketer has represented White Ferns 152 times in ODI's, scoring 3990 runs. She is 10 shy off 4000 runs-mark, a feat that has been achieved by only three players from the nation in the past.
The right-handed batter has 8 centuries to her name, at an average of 31.67. With the ball, she has proven her worth, as Devine (107) is only behind Lea Tahuhu (115) in the all-time wicket-takers list for New Zealand Women in ODI's.
